Another Successful Year at the SF Flower and Garden Show
Our garden, “Papillon Pad” demonstrated how we can create habitat for butterflies, birds, and bugs, as well as for humans large and small in a clean, comfortable, modern way. Our design included: a Living Fountain wetland to filter greywater for irrigation, a swing, a dry stacked stone wall, a food meadow, a butterfly habitat meadow, a Japanese drain, and extensive use of reclaimed, recycled and salvaged lumber. All these elements came together to create a garden that was inviting and enjoyable to spend time in. Sunset Magazine recognized all of these qualities by giving us the Western Living Award, a prize for the garden that exemplifies “fresh, useful, and achievable ideas that enhance outdoor living in the West.”

The swing next to the deck allows play time and dinner time to be close together.
