Al Aire Libre: Mediterranean Living
In the villages of Mallorca, people live with a sense of community that is cultivated by the way they use their outdoor spaces. Like many of the garden terraces in Mallorca, this garden is a front yard. Creating an outdoor living space in front of the house makes a welcoming space for casually meeting and greeting neighbors and passers by. This front terrace reflects the local climate, focuses on site appropriate plants, invites wildlife, and extends the family’s living space into the landscape. Traditional Mediterranean design inherently bolsters the social environment while enhancing the surrounding natural environment.
